Choosing to raise Texas Longhorn cattle on Whisper Crossing Ranch, south-east of Kiowa, was a no-brainer. These animals are beautiful, gentle, smart, and birth their calves with no help.  Because they've run wild on this continent for over 500 years, they are genetically strong, super healthy and nearly disease resistant

We steer bull calves that don’t come up to standard for breeding and use them in our meat program.  Longhorn beef is naturally lean and grades high in quality.

Our cattle graze freely on roughly 700 acres of eastern Colorado prairie.  We do not fertilize, use chemicals or pesticides on our pastures.  The cattle drink from a spring-fed creek running through our property.  We do not feed steroids, growth hormones or anything else that would taint the outstanding beef we offer.  Neither do we give our cattle antibiotics or finish them out on corn.  Many people are allergic to corn and/or mold, which resides unseen, on the corn.  Our cattle are entirely grass fed.

Some have asked, ‘How can you eat animals you have raised?’  We take very good care of our animals and they take very good care of us and our clients.  We have people who cannot eat beef, chicken or even fish, but can eat our Longhorn.  We provide beef, as it was created and it is superior in every way.
